After hitting 3A Station for their Mid-autumn Festival, LeonarK and I decided to go for a drink before heading home. We thought of something authentic, hidden but still good quality must be in the package.
A place crossed my mind, an upper floor café next in a small alley way, next to Rex Hotel on Pasteur Street, which you can spot it clearly while passing. But I never had a chance to try it because of the traffic is really bad at that specific location (thank you, Metro construction.) However, LeonarK told me it wasn’t a simple café, it’s a beer bar. I was amazed. A decoration like that, well lit and industrial style, turned out to be a beer bar. I was surprised and could not wait to come in.
The parking area is easy to find, you will see the staff waving when you enter the small alleyway. Then, we continued with the narrow stairways to enter the beer bar.
We ordered what they had left to offer. Usually, they have a set of 6 different beer flavors, unfortunately, there were only 4 remaining ones for us which are Petite Saison (a light beer 3%), Saigon Saison (7.2%), Jasmine IPA (fruity flavor beer, 6.5%), and Toasted Coconut Porter (which is my favorite because of the significance in flavor, 6.5%.) I recommend you to order small cups for tasting. If you like the taste, you can order a big glass.
We did not intend to try their food by we had to thanks to the unpredictable rain of Saigon. However, it turned out to be nice and light – a feat we expected from a late night snack. We ordered the Bar Snacks which consisted of puree, chips and vegetables. I wish I had ordered it along with the beer, which I will do next time.
Overall, the place is small and cozy. You won’t find a cliche place for showing off here, but authenticity. I will come back to try the rest 2 flavors I was missing and to chill for another rainy night. Enjoy!
